UNISON has just produced new guidance for members and staff on the Display Screen Equipment Regulations.

Every year, many of our members suffer ill-health as a result of poor implementation of these regulations, or Risk Assessments that UNISON considers not 'suitable and sufficient' This new guidance has been produced to provide members and representatives with a clear guide as to what responsibilities there are under the DSE regulations, and who to see/what to do if they believe they may be at risk of harm through using Display Screen Equipment.

Every Year there is a Europe-wide campaign on a health and safety issue which culminates in European Safety and Health Week.

This year European Safety and Health Week is concentrating on the European Campaign for Safety and Health campaign for Risk Assessment.

The concept is that Health and Safety at Work is best established by every 'stakeholder' being involved in the process, and everyone cooperating on Health and Safety.

Violence and aggression are not part of the job, declared UNISON's national delegate conference today, reaffirming the union's commitment to protecting public service workers.

If it's wrong for it to happen to you walking along the high street, it's wrong for it to happen to you at work, delegates said. UNISON's campaigning has already done much to raise awareness of attacks on workers just doing their jobs, they heard.
